Facet Joint Injection
Facet joints can become inflamed or arthritic, causing significant pain in the neck, mid-back, or lower back.
Facet joint injection are primarily diagnostic (test) to identify and isolate source of pain. If the injection relieves your pain, it confirms that the facet joint is the source. Under most circumstances, this is a test injection which will provide benefit for a few hours only in anticipation of pursuing radiofrequency ablation. All injections are performed under fluoroscopic guidance for safe, accurate placement.
