Follow-Up Visits
Follow-up appointments are an essential part of your treatment journey. These visits allow your physician to monitor your progress, evaluate how you are responding to treatment, and make adjustments to ensure the best possible outcome.
Request an AppointmentPreparing for Your Follow-Up
Getting the most out of your follow-up visit starts with a little preparation. Here is how to get ready.
Track Your Symptoms
Before your follow-up, take note of any changes in your pain levels, new symptoms, or side effects from medications. Keeping a simple pain diary between visits can be very helpful for your physician to assess your progress accurately.
Medication List Updates
Bring an updated list of all current medications, including any changes made by other providers since your last visit. This includes prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements.
Questions & Concerns
Write down any questions or concerns you would like to discuss with your physician. Having them prepared ahead of time ensures nothing gets overlooked during your appointment.
New Imaging or Records
If you have had any new imaging studies, lab work, or evaluations from other providers since your last visit, please bring those results or have them sent to our office beforehand.
During Your Follow-Up Visit
Follow-up appointments are typically shorter than your initial visit, usually lasting 15 to 30 minutes. Here is what to expect.
Progress Assessment
Your physician will evaluate your current pain levels and overall function compared to your previous visit. They will ask about your daily activities, sleep quality, and how your pain is affecting your life to get a complete picture of your progress.
Treatment Response Evaluation
If you have undergone a procedure or started a new medication, your physician will assess how well the treatment is working. They will discuss the expected timeline for improvement and whether your response is on track.
Physical Examination
A focused physical examination may be performed to check your range of motion, areas of tenderness, and neurological function. This helps your physician objectively measure your improvement.
Treatment Plan Adjustment
Based on your progress, your care plan may be adjusted. This could include scheduling additional procedures, modifying medications, recommending physical therapy, or exploring alternative treatment approaches to optimize your results.
Open Discussion
Your follow-up visit is an opportunity to have an open conversation with your physician. They will answer your questions, address any concerns, and make sure you understand the next steps in your care.
