Procedure

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy for pain management uses extreme cold to temporarily disable nerves that are transmitting pain signals. By applying controlled freezing to targeted nerves, the procedure disrupts pain transmission while allowing the nerves to regenerate over time. Cryotherapy can be an effective alternative to radiofrequency ablation for certain types of nerve pain. It is performed under imaging guidance and offers the advantage of potentially less post-procedure discomfort compared to heat-based ablation techniques.

Benefits

  • Effective nerve pain relief using controlled cold
  • May cause less post-procedure discomfort than heat ablation
  • Nerves regenerate naturally over time
  • Minimally invasive outpatient procedure
  • Can be repeated as needed
  • Performed under imaging guidance for accuracy
