OVERVIEW
Our practice focuses on minimally invasive procedures that can alter the course or perception of painful conditions. Our emerging sub-specialty is especially effective for many spine-related conditions such as low-back and neck pain. We have marked expertise in these specialized procedures and have been gratified at the frequency with which patients have reported improvement in their condition.
In order to provide the best care possible for these conditions, we have developed an in-office suite with C-arm fluoroscopy imaging, lead-lined walls, monitors, and resuscitation equipment. On procedures that allow very small needles such as facet blocks or medial branch blocks, we routinely use 27ga or 25ga needles rather than the more commonly used 22ga or even 20ga needles.
Our experienced, board-certified anesthesiologists see that patients receive safe, appropriate sedation. In an office suite setting, patients avoid many of the admitting procedures that are required at facilities such as a hospital. Patients who have had procedures done elsewhere routinely make unsolicited comments about how much they enjoy procedures in our suite because of decreased time requirements, increased comfort, and personal attention from our staff and physicians. We routinely follow-up procedures with office visits and/or phone calls before returning patients to their referring physician.
Although we have provided long-term medication management for painful conditions, this is not the area of treatment best suited to the specificity of our practice. We do not have the resources to take care of all or even most of the patients who may benefit from these medications and have needed to rely on a partnership with primary care physicians in the community.
In order to provide patients and their primary care providers with a different option, we provide a consultative service for medications. The idea is to serve as a resource to the primary care physician and to educate patients on principles of opioid prescription use. We see the patient for a consultation or for an initial period of treatment adjustments. Then in the long-term we continue to see the patient on an every-few-months basis.
We understand that even with these methodologies, we may not have the total solution. Therefore, we also work to coordinate patient care in conjunction with other specialists such as physiatrists, physical therapists, rehabilitation facilities, and psychologists according to your preferred referral patterns.
We also provide medical detoxification services with "Ultra-Rapid Opioid Detoxification" as well as outpatient Suboxone Therapy. In addition, we now offer Naltrexone Implants and Injections to help our patients remain opioid free, and Prometa Therapy to treat alcohol and methamphetamine addictions. |
